The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets face off on Saturday in a Week 2 NFL preseason showdown at MetLife Stadium.
Buccaneers Quarterback Battle
There are many who believe the Buccaneers have already decided on who will be the starting quarterback Week 1, but at the time this is being written, it still seems to be a battle. There is zero reason that Baker Mayfield shouldn’t be the starting quarterback to start the season, and the Buccaneers should really announce that sooner rather than later. In the first Game of the season the Buccaneers faced off against the Pittsburgh Steelers and they were defeated 27-17. Mayfield looked good completing 8 of his 9 passes for 63 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Trask completed 6 of his 10 passes for 99 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. John Wolford is also fighting to make the roster and he completed 10 his 17 passes for 111 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions.
Jets Offensive Line Struggles
There has been a lot of rumblings about the Jets offensive line especially with the way they have looked during joint practices. During the joint practice on Wednesday, Aaron Rodgers was sacked six times, and he seemed to be under constant pressure. If the Packers can’t keep Rodgers upright, he’s going to be quickly frustrated. He has made it clear he’s not concerned as much as others, but this is going to be a good test for the offensive line in Game action. In the first preseason Game of the season the Jets were able to knock off the Carolina Panthers 27-0. Zach Wilson looked good completing 14 of his 20 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. Tim Boyle also completed 9 of his 10 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.

The offensive line is a big concern for me, and it’s going to hurt the Jets again here. The Jets offense was good in the first game, but they aren’t going to be as strong here, and that is going to be the difference here. Trask and Mayfield are also going to have big games, and they are going to both score plenty here. The Buccaneers are going to finish with at least 24 points and that will be enough to get the job done. Back the Buccaneers against the spread.
